The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum is a relatively new international secondary school that is located on the campus of Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar (part of the Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation). The first international students were welcomed in August 2019. Currently we offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) 1 to 5 and we started our first year of the Diploma Programme (DP) this school year 2023-2024 and will expand into the second year of the DP in the following year 2024 – 2025. We currently have more than 280 students from many different countries. Our students are aged 11-18 years.

Your role
You will join our rapidly expanding International team. You will develop and teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) Economics and Business Management curriculum. In addition, you will work with the other colleagues in the Humanities department to further develop and teach the  Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) Integrated Humanities curriculum. The successful candidate will be able to inspire and motivate students, and to deliver high quality teaching for their students. There is also the possibility to take on the role of Mentor and Subject Area Leader (SAL) for Humanities.

Candidate Profile

·        You are internationally-minded;
·        Your level of written and spoken English is (near) native;
·        Experience in international or intercultural education
·        You are innovative, committed to learning and up-to-date with current research;
·        You have a Dutch/European (or equivalent) Teaching qualification for the subject, preferably already recognised by the Dutch Government (a DUO recognition);
·        You have a valid work permit to work in the Netherlands/Europe;
·        Experience in teaching MYP Integrated Humanities is preferable;
·        Experience in teaching DP Economics and Business Management is preferable
·        Experience in teaching the age group of 11-16 and 16-18;
·        Experience with meeting the individual needs of the students;
·        Willingness to be involved in extra-curricular activities
·        Experience with differentiation and meeting the individual needs of the students
·        Good ICT skills and an understanding of ICT use in an educational context
·        You are aware of the developments within your field and you enjoy applying new insights into practice;
·        You are flexible, organisationally strong, you put in 100% effort, you are an inspirator and motivator for our students;
·        An excellent team player willing to work collaboratively and across the school, flexible and have the desire to be a part of a dynamic school community;
·        Proactive and have an enthusiastic approach to teaching and wider professional practice.
·        A role model for the IB Learner profile.
